Women in Coding was started in early 2016 by Zoe Koulouris and Kseniya Lifanova. Our mission is to provide resources and opportunities for those interested in coding and design in the local Syracuse community.
Although this group is geared towards women, anyone is welcome to attend our classes.
We currently host monthly workshops where participants can work on projects and learn at their own pace with guidance from mentors. We also host the occasional instructor-led class and networking events.

Our monthly workshops are meant for everyone from the code newbie to the experienced developer. Each meetup will have 1 or 2 mentors who can provide support and answer questions. Bring your laptop, questions, and/or a project and work at your own pace. Never coded before? No problem. We'll help you get started. The mentors and the languages and frameworks they are familiar with will be shared via our monthly newsletter and on meetup before each event.
- Workshops are usually held on the second Saturday of each month from 10am to Noon at the Tech Garden 235 Harrison Street, in downtown Syracuse, NY. Check on Meetup to see who this month's mentors are and make sure to RSVP!
- Some of the common skills many mentors are familiar with include: Web development, programming fundamentals, testing, console/terminal, deployment strategies, static sites, and databases.
- Some of the languages and frameworks mentors may know include: HTML, CSS, Javascript, Angular, React, Redux, Ruby on Rails, Python, C, SQL, MySQL, Java, Drupal, PHP, Wordpress or others. But this will change each month as mentors change, so be sure to check meetup or the newsletter!
